A hands-on guide to BGP on Nokia SR OS, from your first peering to route reflection, policies and MPLS VPN integration.
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is the backbone of modern IP networks, and mastering it is essential for network engineers working with service provider networks and large enterprise infrastructures. This course is a comprehensive, hands-on guide to implementing basic to advanced BGP features on Nokia routers running SR OS.
Starting with BGP fundamentals, you will learn how BGP works, key concepts such as AS numbers, peering types, and route attributes, and how BGP fits into real-world network designs. The course then progresses to practical configuration, covering eBGP and iBGP setup, route advertisement, policy control, and troubleshooting techniques using Nokia CLI.
As you advance, the course delves into advanced BGP features, including route reflection, confederations, BGP policies, communities, MED, local preference, multipath, and best practices for BGP scalability and optimization. You will also explore BGP integration with MPLS and VPN services, common design patterns, and real-world deployment scenarios.
This course is designed for network engineers, service provider professionals, and advanced learners who want practical, production-ready BGP knowledge on Nokia platforms. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence and skills to design, configure, optimize, and troubleshoot BGP on Nokia routing devices.
